The Sugary Peach blog…
The Challenge to remove sugar from my diet, and the journey to improve my health and reverse damage caused by being overweight and eating too much sweet stuff! The journey is not an easy one, but is one that can be sustained as a ‘lifestyle’ choice going forward. Once you have completed the 8 week blood sugar diet, you will be able to enjoy a sweet treat once or twice a week should you wish to. What you will find after completing 8 weeks, is that your tastebuds change, and you will no longer crave ‘sugary’ foods that you previously did. There have been so many articles written about Fat being the bad guy, and in reality, sugar is really the main cause of obesity in the UK today. Obviously, eating too much of anything is not a good thing, so sugar combined with a fatty diet is only going to lead to trouble.
The statistics in Northern Ireland today state that 61% of people are overweight or obese (source Sustranswebsite). That is a shocking statistic for such a small country. Have a look around you the next time you are out, and just observe the people walking about. We as a nation have become bigger. It is no longer an ‘American’ problem, the issue is here on our doorstep.
By creating awareness about how bad #sugar is for us, hopefully the message will start to get through that it is the bad guy and to be avoided, or reduced significantly in our diets.
